Can You Connect AirPods To PS5

Want to connect your AirPods to your PS5? If you have a new PS5, you might also want a good gaming headset. You may have tried using your AirPods from your iPhone and found they don’t connect to your PS5.

This is because the PS5 doesn’t support Bluetooth audio. However, there is a solution. This wikiHow article will teach you how to use AirPods with your PS5.

How To Connect AirPods to PS5?

You can connect AirPods to the PS5 with a Bluetooth adapter.

Sony manages its ecosystem by not allowing Bluetooth audio on the PS5, just like the PS4. However, with a Bluetooth adapter, you can connect AirPods and other Bluetooth headphones to the PS5.

  • If the adapter uses Bluetooth 4.0 or lower, your AirPods may not connect to the PS5. Make sure it supports Bluetooth 5.0 or higher.

AirPods and PS5: Connection Steps

1. Get a Bluetooth Audio Adapter

To connect AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones to your PlayStation 5, you’ll need a Bluetooth audio adapter. Make sure the adapter is Bluetooth 5.0 or higher. The PS5 has one USB C port and three USB A ports, and you can use any of these.

Here are some recommended adapters:

  • Zamia Wireless Bluetooth Adapter
  • EVEO Bluetooth Adapter
  • GTRACING Bluetooth Transmitter
  • Skull & Co Audio Stick Bluetooth 5.0 Wireless Transmitter
  • Edimax BT-8500 Bluetooth Adapter

2. Ensure Your AirPods Are Fully Charged

Charge your AirPods for about an hour before connecting them to your PS5. Keep them in the charging case during the connection process.

3. Bluetooth Adapter for PS5 Connection

Use a Bluetooth 5.0 adapter or higher. Insert it into a USB port on the front of the PS5.

4. Engage Adapter Pairing Mode

How you do this will vary by adapter. Check the adapter’s manual for help. Usually, there is a button to put the adapter in pairing mode. Some USB adapters may pair automatically when plugged in.

5. Press the AirPods Case Sync Button

The button is inside the AirPods case. Press it while the AirPods are still in the case. The Bluetooth adapter will show it is paired with your AirPods by a flashing light or another signal. Your AirPods are now connected to your PS5.

Can AirPods Handle Chatting?

Unfortunately, no.

Although your AirPods have a microphone, most Bluetooth adapters don’t send voice audio. You can hear a chat with AirPods, but you can’t speak through them during an in-game chat.

Activate AirPods Sound

1. Access Settings

It’s in the top-right corner of your PS5 Home screen, next to a gear icon. If there’s no sound through the Bluetooth adapter, try changing the Audio Out Settings.

2. Choose Audio

It’s located about halfway down in the Settings menu. Look for it beside an icon that looks like a speaker.
