Is Stardew Valley Cross-Platform?
Stardew Valley, created by a single developer, has achieved more tremendous success than many games produced by teams of dozens or even hundreds.
It has even earned a spot on Digital Trends’ list of the top 50 video games ever.
Since its release in 2016, the game has been consistently updated with new features and content to keep its dedicated fan base engaged.
Notably, the Stardew Valley 1.6 update introduced an online multiplayer feature, allowing you and up to three friends to visit each other’s farms.
Many players are eager to know when Stardew Valley 1.6 will be available on consoles.
Additionally, with the growing trend of cross-platform play, there’s curiosity about whether Stardew Valley supports cross-platform functionality.

PC and Console | No |
No, Stardew Valley does not support cross-platform play, so online multiplayer is restricted to players using the same system.
If you want to play with friends, ensure that everyone is on the same platform—whether it’s PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, or PC.
Additionally, the world created in a multiplayer session is saved locally by the host, meaning other players cannot access that world without the host being present.
Future of Crossplay for Stardew Valley
Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that Stardew Valley will ever support cross-platform play.
The game’s official Reddit page still indicates that crossplay is not available.
In 2018, the developer briefly addressed the possibility of crossplay on Twitter, stating, “Unfortunately, there will not be crossplay”.
The technical challenges are quite significant. I want to add it, and I’ll look into it further, but my main focus right now is getting the update out.”
Since then, there has been no new information on the matter, making it improbable that Stardew Valley will introduce cross-platform functionality.

Does Stardew Valley Support Cross-Save Function?
In addition to lacking cross-platform play, Stardew Valley does not support cross-save functionality, except for PC, Android, and iOS platforms.
This means players on different consoles can’t transfer their saved games between platforms, which is a significant drawback given the game’s wide availability.
While it would be great to see these features implemented, there needs to be a current indication that they will be added to Stardew Valley.
For now, fans can hope that when released, ConcernedApe’s upcoming game, Haunted Chocolatier, might include cross-platform play and cross-save features.
