Is Terraria Crossplay?

Terraria, developed by Re-Logic in 2011, is an action-adventure sandbox game. It draws players into a 2D world where they can fight, explore, build, and craft.

Originally made for Windows PC, the game has now spread to multiple platforms, offering both action-packed and creative sandbox experiences.

Even though Terraria is more than ten years old, it still has a loyal group of around 60,000 players each month. This shows how captivating and constantly changing the game is.

Terraria has adapted to new technologies and trends, starting on Windows PC and expanding to other platforms like macOS, Xbox 360, Linux, PS Vita, and now to newer systems like Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and mobile devices.

Is Terraria Cross-Platform?

A common question from Terraria players is about playing across different platforms.

The game supports playing together on iOS and Android devices, but it doesn’t allow it between other devices like PCs and Xbox. Mobile users face no limits.

In 2023, the developer Re-Logic mentioned that they are working on making cross-platform play possible, but it’s not certain it will happen. Players are looking forward to any official news about this feature.

Is There Any Alternative For Crossplay in Terraria?

Terraria doesn’t officially support cross-platform play, but players have found workarounds. A common approach is using mods on the PC version.

The TShock plugin, for instance, allows PC and mobile players to share a world.

Once they restart the server, they can play with mobile players if both are using the same Terraria version.

For mobile gamers, playing with others is simple. They just need to choose the “Multiplayer” option from the game’s menu to play together, whether they use iOS or Android.

Players with different versions of the same console can play together because of backward compatibility.

For example, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S players can share the same game world.

In short, Terraria keeps attracting players with its detailed, inventive world and regular updates.
