Looking to show some love to your favorite streamers? Subscribing to their channel is a great way to do it! When you subscribe, part of the money goes to the streamer, helping them keep doing what they love.
Channels with enough subscribers can even unlock special things like custom emotes you can use in chat. Already subscribed but want to do more? You can gift subs to other viewers in the streamer’s community!
What are Gifted Subs?
Gifted subs are just like regular subscriptions, but you buy them for someone else. They get all the same benefits, like access to subscriber emotes and chat. You can gift Tier 1, 2, or 3 subscriptions.
Gifting Made Easy
Want to gift a sub to someone in the chat? No problem! You can also gift them to any Twitch user, even if they’ve never seen the stream before. It doesn’t matter if the streamer is live or not either. The lucky person you gift a sub to will get a notification letting them know about their awesome gift!

All About Gifted Subs on Twitch
Streamer Earnings
Yes! Streamers get paid the same for gifted subs as regular ones. Typically, affiliates get around half the sub cost. So, for a $4.99 Tier 1 sub, a streamer might get $2.50. The rest goes to Twitch. Popular partnered streamers might get a higher cut depending on their deal with Twitch.
Gifted Sub Renewals
Gifted subs don’t automatically renew. They’re like one-time gifts! If you get a 3-month gifted sub, you’ll have it for 3 months, then it’s gone. No surprise charges!
Getting Gifted Subs
There’s no magic trick to getting gifted subs – it’s like getting a present! Asking for one is like asking a friend for a gift, not cool. Here are some ways to improve your chances:
- Follow Mid-Sized Channels: Super popular channels have tons of viewers, making random gifts less likely. In a channel with a few hundred viewers, your odds are better. Look for channels with viewers who frequently gift subs.
- Be Active and Supportive: This is the best tip! Actively participate in chat in a positive way that fits the channel’s vibe. Become a “regular” and you might get gifted by viewers or even the streamer! I’ve gotten gifted subs on channels I frequent because I’m a regular viewer. Sometimes it’s random, sometimes someone knows me and wants to share the gift. The more supportive you are, the higher your chances, though it’s not guaranteed.

Gifting Higher Tier Subs
The price for gifting higher tiers (Tier 2 and 3) varies. Gifting 100 Tier 2 subs can cost around $999 depending on your location. There’s a limit of gifting 40 Tier 3 subs at a time, which would cost around $999.60.
Why Gift Subscriptions?
Benefits for Viewers
Subscribing lets you watch ad-free streams, use streamer emotes, and chat in subscriber-only mode. Channels often have leaderboards for top gifters, showing appreciation for their support.
Benefits for Streamers
Gifted subs provide income for the streamer and build a stronger community. Streamers value viewers who subscribe as it shows dedication and helps the channel grow. While subscribing isn’t required to be part of the community, it can make viewers feel more connected.
