    Gameplay Basics

    Gameplay Basics

In Reaper 2, you play a soul reaper battling evil spirits and hollows.

    Soul Reapers

Soul Reapers save lost souls and bring them to the Soul Society. As they train, they grow stronger and join one of the 13 units, each led by a lieutenant and a leader.

If a Soul Reaper wasn’t born as one or broke the laws of the Soul Society, they might become a Substitute Soul Reaper. This status allows them to use their powers without being recognized as a Soul Reaper.

    Soul Reapers

Soul Reapers wield swords called Zanpakuto. As they progress, they learn to communicate with their sword, unlocking the first awakening, called Shikai (when they know the sword’s name) and the second awakening, called Bankai (when they discover the sword’s actual name).

    Hollows

Hollows are souls that become corrupted by their regrets and turn into masked creatures with a holes in their chests, representing the loss of their hearts.

    Hollows

Another way to become a Hollow is if the Chain of Fate, a chain on your chest after death, erodes and breaks, creating the hole. A Soul Reaper is the only one who can save someone from this fate.

    Arrancars

Arrancars were once mighty Hollows called Menos. They became more human-like by removing their mask, leaving a small piece of it on their face.

    Arrancars

The Menos include Gillians, Adjuchas, and Vasto Lorde. Based on their strength, they can become Menoscar, Adjuchar, or Vastocar, with Vastocar being the most powerful and Menoscar the weakest. Arrancars still have a hole in their Hollow form.

Like Soul Reapers, Arrancars have their own Zanpakuto, but their swords do not perform Shikai or Bankai.

Instead, they learn a technique called Resurrection, which makes them stronger but prevents them from reverting to their previous form.
